On Thursday night's broadcast of the Dallas Stars and Carolina Hurricanes, the NHL's new broadcast partner picked the absolute worst time to go to commercial break.
Late in the third, with the game tied 3-3, Michael Raffl of the Dallas Stars was awarded a penalty shot. At one of the most exciting moments of the game ESPN decided it would be a perfect opportunity to take a commercial break.
The entire play was missed and the audience had no idea whether there was a save or if Raffl missed the net. Fortunately there was no goal scored, but fans at home did miss this entertaining moment. There is obviously still a learning curve for ESPN but this one was bad.
Let's hope they learned their lesson.
