I know it's not hockey related, but I absolutely love this story.

Eric Church is one of the biggest names in country music, but he's also a HUGE sports fan. Church is currently touring the United States and was scheduled to be in San Antonio, Texas this weekend to perform a sold out show.

The only problem?

It turns out that Eric Church's favourite College basketball team has made it to the Final Four and unfortunately their schedules conflict. So what did Eric Church decided to do? Obviously he's going to perform his concert, right? Wrong! Today Eric Church sent out a notice to his fans that he was in fact cancelling the show.

Church out sent this memo:

To the Church Choir,

This Saturday, my family and are going to stand together to cheer on the Tar Heels as the team has made it to the Final Four.

As a lifelong Carolina basketbal fan, I've watched Carolina and Duke battle over the years but to have them matchup [sic] in the Final Four for the first time in the history of the NCAA Tournament is any sports enthusiast's dream.

This is also the most selfish thing I've ever asked the Choir to do: to give up your Saturday night plans with us so that I can have this moment with my family and sports community. However. it's that same type of passion felt by the people who fill the seats at our concerts that makes us want to be part ofa crowd at a game of this significance.

Woody Durham always said, "Go where you go and do what you do", thanks for letting me go here and be with the Tar Heels.

Many fans are disappointed and angry with Church, but I have to admit if my favourite team was in a meaningful game I'd probably do the same thing.
