When Matthew Tkachuk and Johnny Gaudreau decided they both wanted to return home to the United States, it created a narrative that US born players didn't want to play in Canada. While that narrative may or may not be true, at least one Calgary Flames fan felt Kadri decided to take a shot at the two former Flames during his media introduction.

While discussing why he chose Calgary, Kadri shared the following:

I'm a Canadian boy, love the country of Canada, the city of Calgary.

At the end of the day, I'm going there all business. I want to win. I'm looking to run this thing back and I think Calgary certainly has a great, great chance for that.

While subtle I can see the connection the Flames fan is making here and this will definitely go a very long way to helping endear himself to the Flames faithful.

It wouldn't be surprising if Kadri did mean this as a shot to the former Flames, given his history. Kadri ensured to take a shot at the Maple Leafs franchise after winning the Stanley Cup, clapping back at those who'd labeled him a liability in the past.
