The Free Agent market had appears to have stalled over recent weeks, but now it appears things are beginning to pick back up. With multiple players signing professional tryouts and Sam Gagner signing with the Winnipeg Jets, the floodgates have appeared to have opened.

Today the Edmonton Oilers announced they signed former 2nd overall pick Ryan Murray to a 1-year league minimum contract. The deal pays Murray $750,000 next year.

Murray was originally selected 1 pick after Nail Yakupov was selected by the Oilers. At the time there was a debate that the Oilers should pass on Yakupov and select Murray. Something they ultimately chose not to do.

Murray has played in 432 games for 3 different teams and added 128 points during that time. Last season Murray played 37 regular season games for the Colorado Avalanche. Murray didn't appear in any playoff games after fracturing a bone in his arm/hand in March.
