Andrew Hammond has terminated his contract with Traktor Chelyabinsk. He was headed to Florida Panthers training camp on a PTO, then a few days later he decided to scrap that plan and sign with the KHL club.

The 34 year old, goaltender is coming off one of his most productive seasons in years. Hammond played in 11 games, split between the Montreal Canadiens and New Jersey Devils, going 4-5-1 overall.

With teams already dealing with goaltending injuries, Hammond maybe be able to land himself a contract as a depth option. The veteran netminder has appeared in 67 NHL games, with a record of 31-20-7, and holds a .916 save percentage for his career.

Hammond won't be paid for his time in the KHL, but being back with his family is likely more important for him at this time.
