Toronto Maple Leafs are furious after another review goes against them
The Toronto Maple Leafs were burned by a late review in their Monday night game against the Arizona Coyotes. That call ended up being the correct one according to the NHL rule book. Tonight in their game against the Dallas Stars another review has gone against the Leafs and they are definitely not happy about it.
In the 3rd period with the Dallas Stars on the powerplay, Tyler Seguin bangs home what appears to be the game tying goal. Immediately though the referee waves the goal off and signals no goal due to incidental contact with the goaltender. After a quick review the Stars opted to challenge the call on the ice.
The referee ultimately decided after a lengthy review that this was a good goal and that the contact with Samsonov was caused by Marner and not Seguin. Clearly in the replay there is some contact with Samsonov, but not enough to warrant calling the goal back. The Leafs were understandably frustrated and Kyle Dubas likely put it best.
