Former NHLer Signs in Europe to Keep Pro Career Alive

Today it was announced that veteran NHLer Justin Abdelkader has signed with EV Zug of the Swiss National League for the remainder of the season.

Abdelkader is familiar with EV Zug, winning the league championship during the 2020-21 season. Arriving late in the year he was outstanding for the club in the playoffs, scoring six goals and nine points in 13 games.

Last season he played with HC Lugano and represented USA at the the Olympics.

The 35 year old, last played in the NHL during the 2019-2020 season. He finished his NHL career with 739 games played, putting up 252 points, all with his hometown Detroit Red Wings.

Abdelkader is finishing off his pro career in Switzerland and chasing league titles as he does it.
