Former NHLer charged with two counts of sexual assault
Mike Riberio played in 1,074 NHL games with 5 different NHL teams. Over the span of his career he scored 228 goals and added 565 assists. The Montreal, Quebec native has been living in Tennessee since his retirement, but still owns a property in Texas about 100 miles North of Dallas.
On April 13th, Ribeiro was indicted on two separate counts of sexual assault in Franklin County, according to court records. According to the charges revealed by the Dallas Morning News, Ribeiro is accused of sexually assaulting two different women on June 23 of last year.
The indictments said Ribeiro assaulted one woman with his finger and another with his "sexual organ."
Ribeiro was arrested April 28 and released on $200,000 bond the same day, according to jail records.
This is the second time such accusations have surfaced surrounding Riberio, who in 2015 was sued by a former Nanny over a sexual assault that occurred in 2012. This case was settled out of court through court mandated mediation.
Both Riberio and his attorney have refused comment at this time.
