Former teammate admits he'd like to catch Johnny Gaudreau with his head down
On July 12th Johnny Gaudreau informed the Calgary Flames that he had no interest in re-signing with the team. This ultimately led to Gaudreau signing a 7-year deal with the Columbus Blue Jackets. The deal pays Gaudreau $9,750,000 per season and makes him the highest paid member of the Blue Jackets.
Gaudreau's departure left a sour taste in some Flames' fans mouths. Well at least one of his former teammates has thought about the next time the Flames play the Blue Jackets.
Milan Lucic recently joined Jesse and JD and was asked about the first opportunity he has to play Gaudreau.
Host: I gotta ask, buddy, on January 23rd, when Gaudreau comes back to the Saddledome and you see him cutting across the ice with his head down, I know you guys were buddies for a long time, but do you lay him out or what?
Lucic: Okay, yeah, it will be like before I was a Calgary Flame. You go out there and you try and take a number on the other team's best player.
It's clear Lucic, who is a very proud player won't think twice before running through one of his former teammates. Given Lucic's history Gaudreau would probably be better served keeping his head up on January 23rd.
