Former teammate makes fun of Mitch Marner being carjacked at gun point
Earlier this summer after the Toronto Maple Leafs suffered their annual first round exit, forward Mitch Marner was the victim of a carjacking at gun point. In the exchange three masked men approached his vehicle and demanded he give up the keys to his Range Rover. Marner happily obliged.
A week after the incident Marner issued a statement on the matter.
To all the fans, my friends and teammates, and the entire Maple Leafs organization thank you for all your positive messages over the last few days. The overwhelming support I've felt from the Toronto community has been unbelievable.
I'd also like to thank Toronto Police Services for all their hard work in the ongoing investigation.
It was a scary situation to be in, but we're safe and doing well. Thank you all your support has meant the world to us.
- Mitch
But the incident didn't end up being all bad as Marner was able to land a sponsorship with Land Rover and in return received himself a new vehicle in return. After posting an ad though to his Instagram account a former teammate decided to take a shop at Marner's misfortune.
It's clear Tyson Barrie is an absolute savage for bringing this up so soon, but hopefully Marner can take it in good fun.
