Frederik Andersen takes shot at the Toronto Maple Leafs
Frederik Andersen played 5-years as a member of the Toronto Maple Leafs. After being acquired from the Anaheim Ducks, Freddie as he was affectionately known, quickly became a fan favourite. But like most love stories in the Maple Leafs market it eventually came to an end.
After 3 stellar season, injuries finally caught up to Andersen. During his final 2 seasons it was clear the number of games he'd played and the type of shots he'd faced had taken their toll. Andersen was clearly exhausted and ultimately he had his starting goalie position taken from him by Jack Campbell.
Today Andersen is set to return to Toronto for the first time since he signed his off-season contract with the Carolina Hurricanes and during his media availability he didn't sugar coat it when asked about his time in Toronto.
Definitely enjoyed my first few years here.
It's clear Andersen wasn't happy with how his tenure ended and he's done everything in his power to show fans and management that they were wrong with their decision. This season alone Andersen has put up a record of 30-8-2, while also putting up a save percentage of .929 and a 2.09 goals against average. With the Maple Leafs struggling in goal this feels like the Hockey God's attempt at rubbing their mistake in the Leafs' management's face.
