The last time the Florida Panthers won a playoff series was 1996 when they made it all the way to the Stanley Cup Final. Since then they have only made the playoffs 5 times, losing in the first round each time. This year's Florida Panthers team looks ready to break that trend and the management team is ready to go all in. After trading away their 1st round picks for 2022 and 2023, the Panthers will now have to dip into their prospect pool to make another big trade.
Former first round pick Owen Tippett is being held out of tonight's Charlotte Checkers game, the AHL affiliate of the Florida Panthers. Since being sent back down to the AHL he has amassed 18 points in just 12 games which makes him a lucrative trade piece.
Darren Dreger of TSN, believes Tippett will be part of a package that could bring in 7-time All-Star Claude Giroux. Giroux is the final year of his deal that contains a full no-move clause. It is believed he will waive it to go to a Stanley Cup Contender and the Panthers may just be that team.
