Gabe Landeskog and Nate MacKinnon got a 19-year-old teammate banned for life from a hotel
The Colorado Avalanche won the Stanley Cup this past season, but for years the team was unable to get over the hump. One of the players that was apart of many of their failures was Tyson Jost. At this year's trade deadline, the Avalanche traded Jost to the Minnesota Wild in exchange for Nico Sturm.
During a recent interview Jost shared his favorite story from his time with the Avalanche. Unfortunately for Jost the story involved him getting banned from a Vegas Hotel for life, the now 24-year-old finds the story a lot funnier now than he did at the time.
I remember Landeskog and Erik Johnson were like, "What do you mean you're not coming? We've seen your fake ID, it works. You're getting your ass on that plane and you're coming to Vegas with us."
And I was like, "Alright. Lets go! Gabe Landeskog just told me I'm going to Vegas. This guy's such a stud, he'd never let me down."
We get to the nightclub, and we're all going in together and the bouncer kinda knew we all played on the Colorado Avalanche... I give the guy my fake ID and he just kinda looks at me and I'm like, "Oh dear. Here we go."
The guy's like, "Huh, Tyson Jost eh? That's funny. He plays on the Avs and you're trying to say you're John Rick or whatever."
And I'm like, "Can you please just let me go? I'll go up to my hotel room. Nothing will happen here. Let's just call it a night." But I get escorted up to my hotel room by six or seven security guards.
MacKinnon's behind me yelling at these guys like, "Do you know who we are? Let this kid in!" And then Tyson Barrie's like, "This isn't helping, just leave it alone."
The hotel manger's like "You're banned for life. You're never getting in here."
So I'm just in complete panic mode. I'm packing up all my stuff while the security guards watch me and they escort me out of the room.
And then I'm sitting outside of the hotel and I'm like, "I'm not 21, you need to be 21 to get a hotel room in Vegas. It's 12:30 at night-like what am I going to do right now?"
SO JT Compher, one of my boys, he came to my rescue. He's hurting a little bit and he's like, "Josty, I'm coming with you. I need to go to bed anyways, let's go get a hotel room."
I don't think I slept for the next two days. I was thinking of scenarios like Joe Sakic's gonna hear about how I got banned from the Wynn Encore. 19-year-old Josty was just scared shitless. This is an amazing story of the life of an NHLer at 19-years-old, but the moral of the story is...if you're using a fake ID don't try and get into a bar with all your teammates.
