The New York Rangers and Pittsburgh Penguins went to battle again last night in Game 2 of their series. Fortunately for those of us who have to work today this game didn't go into the 3rd overtime. The Rangers would go on to win this one 5-2 trying the series at 1 game a piece. But all that was being talked about post game was a 3rd period incident between Jeff Carter and Igor Shesterkin.

With the Rangers leading 5-2 late in the game Jeff Carter was following a Rangers' defenceman around the goal, when Shesterkin came out of the net blocking Carter. Carter would run into Shesterkin sending him to the ice, which would spark a huge scrum.

Despite Carter's usually clean record, Rangers' Head Coach, Gerard Gallant felt it was clearly intentional.

I wasn't too happy, obviously. In a game like that, I mean there's no reason for it. I was disappointed, for Carter going after Shesterkin a little bit like that. Carter's a good honest player. But it just didn't look good tonight, not to us.

To me, it looks as though Shesterkin initiated contact with Jeff Carter, and not the other way around. After the collision Shesterkin did his best to try and sell it as if he were seriously injured after it. Carter was given a two-minute minor for goaltender interference.
