Habs forward suspended for head shot
Montreal Canadiens' forward Michael Pezzetta was suspended two games on Monday by the Department of Player Safety for an illegal check to the head of Washington Capitals forward TJ Oshie.
The incident occurred in the third period of Washington's 8-4 win against the Montreal Canadiens. Pezzetta hit Oshie's head as he finished a check after the Captials foward had made a play to get the puck out of the Washington zone.
Pezzetta was assessed a minor penalty on the play for an illegal hit to the head. Oshie scored on the ensuing powerplay.
Pezzetta will forfeit $7,500 US in salary. The scrappy fourth liner has 5 goals and 8 points in 47 games.
