Over the weekend it was announced that Kris Letang had suffered the second stroke of his hockey career. Letang had previously suffered a stroke in 2014 which kept him out of the lineup for two months. There was an expectation that Letang would miss considerable time due to this stroke, but that may not be the case.
According to Pierre LeBrun of TSN, Letang might not be out for the season and beyond as originally thought.
This stroke, by all accounts is relatively mild compared to the stroke Letang had in 2014, by all accounts and from all of the evaluations, things look to be good. So good in fact, that the Penguins expect him back at some point this season.
This past summer Letang, 35, signing a 6-year contract that pays him $6,100,000 per season. The Penguins and Letang will continue to monitor his health as he looks to make a comeback to the Pens lineup.
