The Anaheim Ducks new GM Pat Verbeek seems likely to trade Hampus Lindholm imminently, according to insider Frank Seravalli. With one year remaining until the star defender hits free agency and the two sides unable to reach terms to an extension, the team will be forced to deal him and recoup assets.

Lindholm has been a rock for the Ducks over the past few seasons. Since being drafted in 2012, the now 28 year old defenceman has matured into a star two way player with 222 points in 582 games. The Ducks' asking price in a trade will reflect his value as a veteran star, as Seravalli reports.

Seravalli indicates the Ducks will continue to try to reach terms to extend Lindholm. However, if the parties are unable to come to terms, the Ducks are willing to move Lindholm for a first round pick, a top prospect, and an additional asset. Quite the hefty price.

The Ducks, although making progress in the standings, remain committed to rebuilding fitting the window of Zegras, McTavish, and Drysdale. This means they could also sell on Comtois, Rakell, and other older assets on the roster. Interested parties to acquire Lindholm currently include the Leafs, Rangers, and Blues.
