The Pittsburgh Penguins are in for quite the busy off season. With a approximately $23,000,000 in available cap space, the Penguins are sure to be active. What isn't so sure is if either Kris Letang or Evgeni Malkin will be making a return to Pittsburgh.
Hockey Insider Dan Kingerski expects the Malkin will be looking to ink a 2 year deal with a cap hit of $7,000,000 per season.
Malkin just completed his final year in his multi year deal last season and netted $9,500,000. At 37-years-old, a multi-year commitment at $7,000,000 per season seems high, but with the constant production he has been giving the Penguins, I would say it's fair for a player like him.
Malkin is expected to hit the open market after he turned down a 3-year deal with a $5,000,000 cap hit from the Penguins.
