Insider reveals the laughable offer the Florida Panthers made Claude Giroux
The Florida Panthers acquired Claude Giroux at the Trade Deadline in hopes of pushing for a Stanley Cup. Unfortunately for the Panthers after beating the Washington Capitals, they ran into the Tampa Bay Lightning and were swept in 4 games. Many people believed the Panthers were poised to continue their success but this off season has not proved positive for them.
Since Free Agency opened the Panthers have lost Ben Chairot, Mason Marchment and Claude Giroux. Many people expected the Panthers to try and retail Giroux, but a lack of cap space made that difficult.
Now Pierre LeBrun has revealed the extremely low offer the Panthers did offer Giroux.
According to LeBrun the only offer the Panthers could make was for a 1-year deal at $1,000,000 which clearly Giroux was uninterested in. With very little help on the way it will be interesting to see how the Panthers look to compete next year.
