The Toronto Maple Leafs have many restricted and unrestricted free agents on their roster, none is more pressing however than Jack Campbell. It seems the Leafs and Campbell are at an impasse in terms of dollar value when it comes to his next contract. Could it be possible that he goes to another team? Of course, but there seems to be some significant interest from an Eastern Conference foe, who may even be willing to trade for the goaltenders rights before free agency opens on July 13th.

The New Jersey Devils are said to have very significant interest in Campbell, so much so, they've been exploring trade options in order to get his rights before free agency opens.

According to New York Rangers insider Larry Brooks, the Devils interest in Campbell goes way beyond surface level.

We're told by one informant that New Jersey may attempt to jump the process by dealing for the 30-year-old's rights if the Maple Leafs cannot or will not extend the netminder, who started more than 26 games (47) in a season for the first time in his career.

Apparently, a deal that would send Campbell to New Jersey could involve fellow goaltender Mackenzie Blackwood going to Toronto. Kyle Dubas has a thing for reclamation as it were, and this would definitely be one of those projects.
