The Colorado Avalanche are up one on the Tampa Bay Lightning after a hard-fought overtime win.

With Andre Burakovsky sealing the 1st game win for the Avalanche, you couldn't help but notice that the Avalanche made the Lightning's life harder all night, crashing the net and going up 2 to 0 early.

Even without Nazeem Kadri, the Avalanche has enough depth to keep the flow of the game intense and keep the scoring going, with guys like Arturri Lehkonen and Valeri Nichushkin scoring early.

Jared Bednar said he spent a lot of time watching the #Leafs in their series against Tampa ahead of the #StanleyCup Final:

«It was a dynamic series. And I see a lot of similarities in the Leafs' players and personnel to ours»

It'll be interesting to see with the comparables with the high goal-scoring of both the Maple Leafs and the Avalanche, we'll see if he can adjust if Tampa Bay decides to take the next game or two.

Throughout the 2019-20 regular season, Colorado led the way in both 5v5 controlled exit percentage and controlled entry percentage in Corey Sznajder's microstats tracking. There simply wasn't a better NHL team at executing the fundamentals of possession hockey than head coach Jared Bednar's Avs.
