Evander Kane certainly has had quite the year, between allegations of abuse, alleged wrongful termination of his contract when he was with the San Jose Sharks and then subsequently signing an almost league minimum deal with the Edmonton Oilers, his year has been anything but quiet.

According to Frank Seravelli of Daily Faceoff, the National Hockey League is now pushing out a decision on a grievance Kane filed with the league regarding how the Sharks let him go. This issue may not be resolved until mid July because «no arbitrators are available in June» which could effectively stall Kane's impending free agency.

I'm no Evander Kane fan by any stretch of the imagination, but this isn't the right move by the NHL. they should not be dragging their feet trying to find an arbitrator because the decision might make the league look bad. If Kane and his agent Dan Milstein can prove wrongful termination, they should at least be able to get a decision in a timely manor.

If I was Kane, I would be extremely upset at the conduct the NHL is displaying while attempting to «handle this matter.
