Jon Cooper makes wild prediction about Auston Matthews' future
The Tampa Bay Lightning and Toronto Maple Leafs appear to be on a collision course for a 1st round playoff matchup. As long as the bottom doesn't fall out for the Florida Panthers, the matchup seems inevitable. It'll just come down to which team will have home ice advantage. Tonight's Atlantic matchup will go a long way to determining that.
Before tonight's game Lightning Head Coach, Jon Cooper was asked specifically about the Toronto Maple Leafs' Auston Matthews and Cooper had very high praise for the star player.
When you have that arsenal of weapons he has, and the way shoots, I wouldn't be surprised if some time in his career he gets 70. That's how good of a scorer he is.
While 70 goals seems like a stretch in today's game it appears Auston Matthews is the most likely to do it in today's game. Matthews currently has 51 goals in 63 games and would be on pace for 66 goals over an 82 game schedule.
