Junior A team quits their league after 5 games, after giving up way too many goals
The Heritage Junior Hockey League is an Alberta based junior league that consists of 14 teams. At least it used to have 14 teams. After 5 games the Ponoka Stampeders have elected to suspend their season. This comes after an embarrassing 5 game stretch.
For anyone who has ever played junior hockey at the lowest of levels, you know just how difficult it can be. The terrible bus rides, the long road trips and the less than impressive locker rooms. But those trips are far less enjoyable after every loss.
Those trips get even worse when your team loses big and losing big is exactly what Ponoka did.
Only 5 games into the season the Stampeders gave up 125 goals. I know what you're thinking, maybe it's a high scoring league? Well not if you're playing for Ponoka. In those 5 games the team only scored 3 goals. Losing by scores of
You can't blame either parents or players for not wanting to waste their time, money and effort on such a poorly run team. A team who earlier in the season posted a help wanted sign on their Twitter page.
