Keith Tkachuk does the unthinkable when son, Matthew scores a hat trick
One of the coolest fan traditions in the NHL is littering the ice with hats after a hat trick goal. It's always an amazing moment when one of your favourite players pots his 3rd of the game and in a show of appreciation the fans offer up a subtle thank you. If you've ever been to a game you know the risk that you face if you bring your favourite hat that night.
Most avid hockey fans understand the idea of bringing a replaceable hat to the games in the event that a hat trick does occur. But apparently that thought never crossed the mind of former NHLer and elite hockey dad, Keith Tkachuk.
Last night when his son Matthew scored his 3rd goal into an empty net the fans filled the ice with their caps, well all except Keith. Despite other members of the Tkachuk clan trying to convince him you can see Keith clearly saying, "this is my favourite hat!"
So did Keith ever give up his favourite hat? Absolutely not!
You have to imagine Keith is going to be the target of some chirps around the dinner table after this one.
