Latest on Evan Rodrigues
According to Elliott Friedman on the 32 Thoughts Podcast, this free agent still hasn't found a home.
Evan Rodrigues is late in the off-season without a contract and the reason may be because his ask is too high.
There are talks that Rodrigues wants $2 million and given his production last season, that isn't an unreasonable ask for a career year he had in 2021-2022.
As it stands, Brad Treliving and the Flames may be out, as they currently don't have the cap flexibility they had after Calgary
signed Nazeem Kadri and Jonathan Huberdeau.
As mentioned on the podcast, Rodrigues will try to get a good deal and find a spot that will land him a bigger role as well.
Rodrigues had 43 points, in 82 games last season, a career-high with his average TOI being 15:50. He will no doubt be looking to expand into a role that's more than just a depth forward,
The centre had started his NHL career with the Buffalo Sabres and since the 2019-2020 season, has been with the Pittsburgh Penguins until his UFA status kicked in at the start of the off-season.
