Luke Schenn destroys Juraj Slafkovsky with a huge check and then drops the gloves with Arber Xhekaj
The Montreal Canadiens jumped out to an early 4-0 lead against the Vancouver Canucks. After the 1st period fans were already calling last night's game, the game that would get Bruce Boudreau fired. That was until the Canucks began their unlikely comeback.
In the 1st period, Luke Schenn was called for interference after delivering one of the best hits of the season. As Juraj Slafkovsky came around the back of the net, he was unaware of his surroundings and left himself vulnerable for this Schenn hit. Schenn immediately closed the gap and delivered a huge hit.
Slafkovsky was sent to the ice hard. This is at least the 5th big hit Slafkovsky has sustained this season. It's clear he's finding the transition to the NHL a little difficult. After the hit Canadiens' rookie Arber Xhekaj challenged Schenn, but Xhekaj was quickly overpowered by the veteran.
Schenn was given 2 minutes for interference in the check, while he and Xhekaj were both given fighting majors. The Canucks would end up coming all the way back to win last night's game 7-6 in overtime.
