The Toronto Maple Leafs appear to have their eyes set on Campbell's replacemeny. It appears as the Leafs GM seems to have serious interest in signing free-agent netminder Marc-Andre Fleury.
Kyle Dubas tried to acquire Fleury last season at the trade deadline with the Chicago Blackhawks but Dubas and Blackhawks GM Kyle Davidson couldn't come up with a trade both sides were comfortable with. Fleury ultimately would end up going to the Minnesota Wild.
Jack Campbell is expected to receive a multi-year deal north of $5 million per season, a figure the Maple Leafs apparently aren't comfortable offering. Fleury's expected salary is believed to be between $4.5 to $5 million dollars annually not a bad price at all for a three time winning Stanley Cup goaltender.
The Colorado Avalanche, Edmonton Oilers and Minnesota Wild all have varying degrees of interest. But Fleury has reportedly made it clear he doesn't want to play in Edmonton. Colorado is expected to try and re-sign Darcy Kuemper, but if they're unable to do so they'll turn to Fleury.
The Pittsburgh Penguins were also reported to have interest, but their crease is full after extending Casey DeSmith.
