Maple Leafs get a major injury update on Michael Bunting
Last night during the Toronto Maple Leafs and Florida Panthers, Maple Leafs' forward appeared to suffer a serious injury. On a play behind the net Bunting appeared to get tied up with Sasha Barkov. Bunting appeared to wobble on his knee and could be seen flexing his leg on the way to the bench.
After the game Sheldon Keefe made an announcement about Bunting's injury the didn't seem overly promising. In his post game availability he shared:
Michael Bunting currently leads the rookie scoring race with 63-points on the season. But in a stroke of luck it appears the Maple Leafs may have dodged a major bullet. Today Keefe shared the following:
Michael Bunting woke up this morning feeling better than expected which is a good sign. Won't know more until he gets looked at at home.
It appears that the Maple Leafs might have gotten lucky, as Bunting has been a major part of the team's top line. A healthy Michael Bunting will be key to a long playoff run for the Maple Leafs.
