Maple Leafs prospect provides update on battle with brain tumor, shares news about his hockey future
Say what you will about the Toronto Maple Leafs organization, love them or hate them, their management and the players they draft, seem to have character in spades. Rodion Amirov is no exception to that.
Last February the Leafs 15th overall pick in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft, Rodion Amirov, was diagnosed with a brain tumour that put his hockey career on hold as he underwent treatment and begun his battle with cancer. Toronto was and still continues to be working alongside Amirov to this day, and a return to the ice may be in the cards sooner rather than later.
According to Hockey News Hub in an interview with Russian Reporter Alexei Schevchenko, Amirov had said that he has two rounds of treatment left before he can return to playing hockey, but he hopes to return to the ice in November or December of this year. Amirov is also quoted as saying he's «tired of the pitiful looks« and that he is a «healthy person»
This has to be the feel good story of the off-season so far! Get out on the ice as soon as you can, Rodion! The hockey world is rooting for you!
