Michael Bunting has possibly been the best free agent signing of any team this past off-season. The 26-year-old agreed to a 2-year contract with an annual value of $950,000. Bunting has definitely outplayed his contract, as he currently leads the NHL rookie scoring race.

Bunting has found what appears to be a natural home on the Maple Leafs' top line alongside Mitch Marner and Auston Matthews. Earlier this week against the Florida Panthers, Bunting suffered an injury to his right leg.

While Michael Bunting took the ice this morning before morning skate it appears that the injury is going to keep him out of the Leafs lineup for the rest of the regular season. Sheldon Keefe shared the following comment after today's practice, which Bunting didn't participate in:

He skated today so it's a very positive sign. He's not going to play this week & then we'll re-evaluate him from there, but things are looking positive.

A Maple Leafs' lineup without Michael Bunting will be missing a certain amount of truculence that is required for playoff hockey.
