Carolina Hurricanes get a major update on the health of their injured goalie
With Frederik Andersen already injured, the last thing the Carolina Hurricanes needed was an injury to Antti Raanta. But that was exactly what it looked like they'd run into Sunday afternoon.
When Antti Raanta hit the ice, the entire Hurricane's fan base collectively gasped. It seemed like the teams promising season was suddenly hanging by a thread. While the Hurricanes are still waiting to reassess the injury to Frederik Andersen it appears they've received some great news about Antti Raanta.
Senior writer for NHL, Dan Rosen provided the following update on the Canes goaltender:
At the Hurricanes morning skate at MSG and it's looking like Pyotr Kochetkov will be their starting goalie tonight vs. NYR. Antti Raanta is on the ice and looking like the backup tonight. The Hurricanes head into a pivotal game against the New York Rangers tonight which could decide the fate of the Metropolitan Division. A win for the Hurricanes would lockdown the division, but a loss gives the Rangers the hammer when it comes to locking down 1st place.
It appears while Raanta isn't healthy enough to start the game for the Hurricanes that he is at least healthy enough to backup. This should allow Hurricane fans to ease somewhat of a sigh of relief.
