Leon Draisiatl was recently quoted saying, "I wouldn't want to play us in the first round." Which on its own is a very confident statement, but unfortunately after the comment the Oilers went out and laid an absolute egg against the Minnesota Wild.
The Oilers ultimately ended up losing the game 5-1 and Mikko Koskinen struggled mightily. Koskinen gave up 5 goals on 23 shots including an absolute stinker to Kevin Fiala.
The Fiala goal was especially bad because of the angle the puck was shot from and where Koskinen got beat by it. Fiala came down almost to the goal line before firing a shot that somehow beat Koskinen on the far side, an indication that he was FAR too deep into his own net.
Despite Leon Draisiatl's claims, there has to be some corner in Edmonton about how their goaltending will stand up. Especially given Mikko Koskinen's save percentage of .902 and Mike Smiths of .903
