Montreal Canadiens fans are furious after current player likes tweet disparaging Carey Price
This week hockey fans received news that Carey Price's career was in jeopardy of being over. After attempting Platelet rich plasma treatments during the summer, Price's body did not respond how everyone hoped it would. Now General Manager, Kent Hughes has already shared that there likely isn't a route for Price to safely return to the team this year.
Price's only remaining course of action could be another major surgery. A surgery that comes with its own risks and provides no guarantees for his NHL career. With every announcement of this type often comes the standard reminiscing over the players career.
In Price's case this includes comparing him against other goalies of his generation. The only other name on the list with Price is former New York Rangers, Henrique Lundqvist. As fans debated the topic Greg Wyshynski a US Based sports writer shared the following Tweet.
This wasn't the tweet that caught Canadiens' fans eyes though. It was a response to this tweet that was liked by a member of their roster.
Jonathan Drouin, who is already on the outs with the fan base after taking off significant time last year. Drouin clearly liked a tweet by David Shapiro claiming Habs fans are "big mad". Not a smart move by a player fans don't particularly care for. After seeing this Canadiens fans responded exactly how you expected, by getting big mad.
The Tweet was since unliked, but it's clear that the damage has been done between Drouin and the fan base.
