NHL Department of Player Safety announces fine for Mikhail Sergachev
During last night's game Tampa Bay Lightning defenceman, Mikhail Sergachev slashed Maple Leafs' forward Michael Bunting. The play went uncalled on the ice, but today the NHL Department of Player Safety issued a fine to Sergachev. The DoPS announced Sergachev has been fined $5,000 for the slash.
The infraction came during the final seconds of the opening period during Tuesday night's game in Toronto when Sergachev delivered a slash to Bunting's hand.
Sergachev's fine is the maximum allowable under the CBA. The Maple Leafs and Lightning appear set to meet for another playoff series this spring and it's becoming clear very quickly that these teams do not like each other.
So far this season, Michael Bunting has scored 8 goals and 23 points in 33 games played this season, while Mikhail Sergachev has scored 5 goals and 27 points in 29 games played this season.
