On Merloni, Fauria, and Mego it was speculated by Jack Edwards that Patrice Bergeron would be retiring, after the disappointing loss in the 1st round to the Carolina Hurricanes. This retirement would put the Bruins in a bind, as Jack Studnicka isn't NHL ready and by all accounts of his AHL production, may need another year before he's ready to be a full-time NHLer.

Which would mean Nazem Kadri would be a perfect fit for the 1st line center role. Kadri is having a career year with the Colorado Avalanche, with 28 goals and 59 assists, for 87 points.

Kadri is underrated as a physical player who cares not for his own well being and rides on the verge of dirty play at times with his hits.Size is not an issue, but strength to handle battles one on one has been a concern to date. Defensive zone coverage and awareness is not an afterthought to Kadri, but he needs to learn to move his feet as much in retreat and defensive positioning assignments as he does in the offensive zone.

He'd fit well into Bruce Cassidy's system considering the Bruins are aging and the depth is lacking, Don Sweeney needs to go all-in or tear it all down after this season. Keep Swayman, Pastrnak, Hall, McAvoy and Marchand and figure it out from there, but adding Kadri would put them past the Canes next year.
