Here's something you don't hear about every day. In the AHL, New Jersey Devils' prospect Nikita Okhotiuk dropped the gloves with Casey Fitzgerald. Okhotiuk, who plays defense for the Utica Comets, currently sits second for the Comets in penalty minutes.
On the play Okhotiuk was assessed a penalty for slashing, but the slash eventually led to the two Fitzgerald accepting to drop the gloves. This was a bad choice for Fitzgerald because he was absolutely beat up by Okhotiuk.
The interesting part of this is Casey Fitzgerald's dad is actually the General Manager of New Jersey Devils, the team who drafted Okhotiuk.
It's going to be interesting to see how Devils' General Manager, Tom Fitzgerald feels about this choice by Okhotiuk.
