The Toronto Maple Leafs made another first round exit from the NHL playoff. After losing in 7 games to the Lightning, the Maple Leafs are searching for answer. But even after another disappointing first-round playoff exit, the Toronto Maple Leafs still have Don Cherry's vote of confidence.

While many Leafs' rans are demanding change, Don Cherry doesn't agree with that idea:

I wouldn't break this team up yet I would keep it together. I would give them one more year because with that firepower, you can't throw that team away period. They came so close.

Before Game 7 and a neighbour asked me what I thought, and I told him I always worry when the other team has a goalie like that. It was Andrei Vasilevskiy who won it. You can't knock Jack Campbell. He played great.

While fans are finding the idea of running it back difficult, Cherry feels for Leafs' fans:

I am hurting, too. I have the Maple Leaf on my truck. But I'd give this team one more year.

It's surprising to see they Cherry feels the Maple Leafs are close and unlike many media members he's not advocating for the trading of William Nylander. One thing is for sure though, with only 2-seasons left on Auston Matthews' contract, they better figure it out and fast.
