Nic Deslauriers shares a great comment about punching faces and his new role
A career fourth liner Nicolas Deslauriers signed a 4 year deal with the Philadelphia Flyers with a $1,750,000 AAV.
That is quite an expensive price for a player with a career high 15 points. GM Chuck Fletcher will be quick to defend that citing all the intangibles Deslauriers brings. His ability to drop the gloves, stick up for teammates, being an a agitator, and good for checker.
Deslauriers says he's worked on his skating to keep up with the new NHL. But he said he doesn't need to be told by Chuck Fletcher what his role is. He's going to play physical and look to drop the gloves at the right times in order to try and change momentum in games.

Already 31, this is a contract that will take him deep into his thirties despite Deslauriers scoring just 44 goals and 85 points in 506 career games. When we look back at this years' Free Agency this could be one of the worst contracts signed.
