Nothing will keep Pierre-Luc Dubois in Winnipeg because he has his heart set on going to another team as soon as possible
NHL analyst Nick Kypreos reports that it is only a matter of time before Winnipeg center Pierre-Luc Dubois heads to play for the Montreal Canadiens. Dubois is in the final year of his contract before he becomes a restricted free agent. The Jets will own his right still, but will he sign an extension with the Jets? It sure doesn't seem like it.
It's been rumored before that Dubois would like to play for Montreal at some point in his career. He already does charity work there and he is from Quebec. All these signs would suggest that the rumors are true. If this really is how Dubois feels, the Winnipeg Jets will have to decide what to do with him. It sounds like Dubois is not interested in staying with the Jet long-term no matter what. That puts the Jets in a tough position because they're currently in second place in the Central Division and look like they'll be in playoff contention. So, there is certainly some decisions that General Manager Kevin Cheveldayoff has to make moving forward.
Likely the Dubois situation will be handled after the season is over. Besides the Jets are focused on continuing to play well and get into the Stanley Cup Playoffs. We'll have to wait and see if this will be Dubois final year in Winnipeg.
