Tuesday night Alex Ovechkin climbed one step closer to breaking Wayne Gretzky's all-time record for Goals scored in the NHL. After tying Jaromir Jagr's record March 9th against the Calgary Flames, Ovechkin went scoreless for two games after.
Feeling the pressure coming home to Washington, after a road trip out west, Ovechkin was determined to get the monkey off his back. With 5 minutes left in third and the game tied, Alex Ovechkin scored one of his signature quick shots off the face off.
The Capitals bench emptied to celebrate the accomplishment. Only 34 more to tie Gordie Howe and 127 to catch Wayne Gretzky.
