Philadelphia Flyers announce signing of 16-year NHL veteran
The Philadelphia Flyers have added a veteran defenceman to their roster for the 2023-24 season.
On Monday, the team announced that they've agreed to terms on a one-year contract worth $1.1 million with2005 12th overall pick Marc Staal.
Staal, 36, has spent parts of 16 seasons in the National Hockey League with the New York Rangers, Detroit Red Wings and Florida Panthers, appearing in 1,101 games and recording 229 points (52 goals, 177 assists), 523 penalty minutes and is a plus-50.
The 6'4", 208 pound blueliner, along with his brother Eric, helped the Florida Panthers reach the 2023 Stanley Cup Final, where they ultimately lost to the Vegas Golden Knights. Staal skated in 21 games, didn't record any points, had ten penalty minutes and an even-rating.
