The Philadelphia Flyers and prospect Ivan Fedotov have certainly had a bumpy road. Fedotov was enlisted in the army and didn't get to play hockey last year as a result.

Now, according to Darren Dreger of TSN, the NHL and the Flyers are arguing they should be able to carry over a year of his contract since he wasn't able to play hockey last season; take a look.

The NHL and Philadelphia Flyers submit Ivan Fedorov's contract should be tolled based on missing last season due to military service in Russia. The IIHF is now considering the submission.

The NHL and the Flyers together have said the Flyers should be able to carry over a year of Fedotov's; the IIHF is reviewing the matter.

Fedotov has issued a statement through his agent and has said he will honour the ruling made by the IIHF; he just wants to resume his career.

JP Barry of CAA Sports, issued the following statement. «We spoke to Ivan today and his position is that he will abide by the ruling of the IIHF regarding which contract (Flyers or CSKA) is currently valid and binding. He simply wants to resume his career as soon as possible

Hopefully, a ruling from the IIHF doesn't take too long, and Fedotov will be able to get back to playing hockey soon.
