Pittsburgh Penguins forward expected to miss extended time
The Pittsburgh Penguins have been in a steady decline since 2017-2018, the Penguins have never been a dynasty but always a constant winning team in the NHL.
A lot of good things have happened, as they have secured the Big Three recently, signing Evgeni Malkin and Kris Letang.
However, the issue is with younger players like Teddy Blueger, who has been a staple in the Penguins' bottom six.
The Latvian forward put in his time in college hockey and the AHL before showing that his speed could translate to the NHL level. Provides plenty of energy and is more than capable of playing the role of shutdown center and penalty killer. Occasionally flashes the kind of offensive skills he exhibited at lower levels. Gets a fair number of breakaways because of his speed. His points usually come in spurts.
His role in the organization has grown into a two-way forward, with him taking strides defensively on the PK.
Blueger was injured during training camp in late September, last known being evaluated for an upper-body-injury and things haven't gotten any better for the Penguins forward:
No update on his status per Matt Vensel and Taylor Haase.
Blueger has played in 205 NHL games, and put up 31 goals and 51 assists for an 82 point career total.
The Pittsburgh Penguins will host the Arizona Coyotes, Thursday night in PPG Arena to open their season.
