Over the weekend, Nikolay Rizin a player in a lower tier Russian league was kicked out of a game for slashing a referee over the head and kicking him with his skate while he was down.

This wasn't the first incident for Rizin as he was served a lifetime ban in another Russian league a few years ago.

Now Rizin is not only banned from his second league from his second league, but the league is filing paperwork with the Russian Federation to have Rizin banned from all hockey leagues across the country: take a look.

Rizin, who was given a second chance did nothing to change his behaviour, that much is evident. The writing appeared to be on the wall for him as a player, nonetheless, it's good to see the league he played in doing something about his behaviour.

Hopefully, he'll think before lashing out again, costing him his career in Russia.

I'll be honest, you'd think this would have been an automatic lifetime ban from all competition, but I wasn't exactly holding my breath. It's really good to see the right outcome has been set in motion
