Post whistle scrum leads to linesman suffering significant injury and a player being ejected
The Florida Panthers defeated the Montreal Canadiens 7-2 last night. The game was an Atlantic Division matchup between two teams who clearly don't like each other. During the 3rd period of last night's game Radko Gudas and Joel Edmundson came together after a whistle.
The incident began with Gudas and Kirby Dach exchanging slashes. When Edmundson comes in from behind and delivers a cross check to the back of Gudas. Gudas then falls the ice and as the linesman tries to intervene, a stick comes free and gets tied up in his feet.
The linesman fell to the ice and immediately began clutching his leg in pain.
Linesman Ryan Jackson was forced to leave the game and would not return, while Edmundson was sent to the locker room packing while Gudas was given a minor penalty for his cross check.
