The Toronto Maple Leafs have had goaltending issues for the calendar year of 2022. With Jack Campbell injured and Petr Mrazek struggling, there were some thoughts that Sheldon Keefe would start rookie Erik Kallgren during the Heritage Classic.

Keefe has already shared that Petr Mrazek will start for the Leafs Sunday in the outdoor games against the Buffalo Sabres.

But if Howard Berger is to be believed, apparently this isn't Keefe's preferred choice. According to Berger the only reason Mrazek is starting is because Dubas is forcing Keefe to start him. Berger shared the following thought on his Twitter account Saturday:

#Leafs GM Kyle Dubas would not allow Sheldon Keefe to embarrass him by playing Erik Kallgren in the outdoor game on Sunday. Petr Mrazek was signed by Dubas as a free agent. End of story.

If there is any truth to this story it appears there might be trouble in paradise between Keefe and Dubas, but over the years Berger has also been less than credible at the best of times.
