Doug Wilson announced Thursday that he is officially stepping down as General Manager of the San Jose Sharks after 19 seasons.

I want to personally thank Doug for his 19 seasons as general manager of the San Jose Sharks. Doug and his staff produced remarkable results over a span that very few NHL teams can match, highlighted by our 2016 Stanley Cup run. Doug has been an integral part of this franchise since the team's inception in 1991, and his impact on and off the ice will continue to be felt long into the future. Doug, and his wife Kathy, will always have a place as members of the Sharks family.

Doug Wilson became the General Manager of the Sharks on May 13th 2003. Wilson took temporary medical leave back on Nov. 26th. Joe Will replaced him on an interim basis and will continue to serve on an interim basis as the club searches for a new General Manager.

In Wilson's 19 seasons as GM the Sharks only missed the Playoffs 3 times during his tenure. The Sharks made the Stanley Cup final in 2016 losing to the Pittsburgh Penguins in six games.
