St. Louis Blues Head coach has had enough, calls out Jordan Binnington's crazy behavior
Goalies are built differently, that's common knowledge to anyone who has been around the game of hockey for any length of time. Goalies are superstitious, strange and sometimes downright unhinged. The latter describes Jordan Binnington perfectly.
Over the last few years Binnington has developed a reputation for himself that few in the league could match. Last night he built on that reputation by intentionally hitting Jason Zucker in the face as he skated behind the Blue's net.
This episode was followed up by Binnington receiving a misconduct penalty for a tantrum after being pulled from the game. The referees were luckily able to intercept Binnington before things got too out of hand.
After the game Blue's Head Coach, Craig Berube had finally seen enough of his goalie's antics. Berube made it quite clear during his post game availability how he felt about Binnington's reactions.
It's got to stop. It doesn't help anything. Just play goal. Stop the puck.
So far this year Binnington has a save percentage of .897 and a goals against average of 3.27. It's not hard to believe that if Binnington hadn't have won the Cup in his rookie year that he'd likely already be out of the NHL.
