Steve Yzerman has already seen enough, demotes disgruntled forward to the AHL
Steve Yzerman is very calculated in every decision he makes. The veteran General Manager, is known for taking care of his players, but always putting his club first. That's exactly what it appears Yzerman has done again yesterday.
Yesterday Yzerman made the decision to once again demote Jakub Vrana to Grand Rapids of the American Hockey League.
Late Wednesday night hockey insider and President of Hockey Content at Daily Faceoff(@DailyFaceiff) Frank Seravelli(@frank_Seravelli) reported that he believes the Detroit Red Wings reassigning Vrana <>.
As reported earlier, Vrana was placed in the NHL/NHLPA player assistance program, then returned to the Red Wings where he was almost immediately sent down to their American Hockey League affiliate the Grand Rapids Griffins.
While in Grand Rapids, the twenty-six-year-old Left Winger from Prague, Czechia played seventeen games contributing six goals along with five assists and four penalty minutes.
In three games played since being recalled by the Red Wings had a goal and one assist with two penalty minutes.
While on the surface this looks like a paper move, one must feel for Vrana with all the ups and downs this season. The only consolation may be that the distance between Grand Rapids and Detroit, Michigan is roughly 160 miles.
